Strategic Advisory Group on Accessibility (SAGA)
Created in 2011, the Strategic Advisory Group on Accessibility (SAGA) advises CEN and CENELEC on accessibility-related political and strategic matters.
SAGA includes representatives from standardization bodies, disability organizations, and policy experts. It does not develop standards but promotes best practices and awareness in accessibility.
SAGA's key priorities (2020–2022) include:
- Promoting the Design for All approach (M/473)
- Raising awareness of accessibility in European standardization
- Supporting standardization for the EAA
SAGA also monitors accessibility policies and initiatives, ensuring their alignment with European standardization efforts.
SAGA Brochure
To support standardizers in addressing accessibility, SAGA has developed a brochure ‘How to Address Accessibility in Standardization’.
This resource provides an overview of the available materials to help integrate accessibility into standardization efforts. It clearly identifies the intended audience for each document, whether technical committees or organizations and explains how to apply them effectively.
