CEN and CENELEC introduce new measures against coronavirus

In light of the latest developments regarding coronavirus (Covid-19), including its characterisation as a pandemic disease by the WHO and the latest emergency measures taken by some European governments, CEN and CENELEC introduced a series of new measures. These measures are an update to the ones previously communicated.

The new measures taken concern meetings organised in Brussels until 30 April 2020. All CEN and CENELEC governance and technical meetings planned until 30 April 2020 must take place virtually or be postponed until after that date.

Furthermore, the CEN-CENELEC Meeting Centre in 23 Rue de la Science, 1040 Brussels, will be closed as of Monday 16 March 2020, until Friday 17 April 2020. To ensure business continuity, the CCMC staff will homework fulltime starting as of Monday 16 March 2020.

The extension of these measures will be reviewed on a weekly basis and CEN and CENELEC will issue timely communications accordingly, with the aim to provide certainty and business continuity while responding to evolving circumstances.

Further clarification and guidance on the implementation of the measures can be found in CEN and CENELEC’s Director General’s official letter at this link.
