CEN and CENELEC to hold a Workshop on the European Standardization System in China 

CEN, the European Committee for Standardization, and CENELEC, European Committee for Electrotechnical Standardization, will hold a workshop in Shanghai, China, on 23 October.

The event, which will consist of an exchange and Q&A, will target the standardization community in China. Taking place on the occasion of the IEC 2019 General Meeting in Shanghai (21-25 October), CEN and CENELEC’s workshop will bring together prominent speakers from the European standardization community, including top level Officers of CEN and CENELEC, CEOs of national standardization bodies and national electrotechnical standardization committees, IEC high-level representatives, the European Commission, national government and European industries.

This high-level event takes place in the framework of CEN and CENELEC’s developing partnership with the Standardization Administration of China, and is supported by the China Standardization Press and SESEC, the Seconded European Standardization Expert in China.

The aim of the workshop is to foster an exchange of views with CEN and CENELEC’s stakeholders in China on topics of mutual interest, thus facilitating a common understanding and strengthening international collaboration. The workshop will provide an opportunity to understand, among others:

the nature of the European standardization system as a trust-building Public-Private Partnership,
the relationship between the strictness of standards and the level of quality, and
the role of the national standardization bodies and national electrotechnical standardization committees in ensuring a competitive Single Market through a single standards model.

The workshop will take place on Wednesday 23rd October 2019 from 14:00 to 16:30 in the Changchun & Dalian Hall of Pudong Shangri-La Hotel, 33 Fucheng Rd, Lu Jia Zui, Pudong Xinqu, Shanghai, China, and is free of charge.

The workshop language will be English. Simultaneous Interpretation will be provided.
