Call for participation in the CEN and CENELEC Advisory Board on Healthcare Standards (ABHS)

The CEN and CENELEC Technical Boards established the CEN and CENELEC Advisory Board on Healthcare Standards (ABHS) in 2005. Its aim is to bring together European stakeholders interested in or impacted by standardization in the healthcare field. Active participants will in turn obtain a comprehensive overview of the situation of the sector in Europe. The members of ABHS include representatives of national standards organisations, Technical Committees, the European Commission, European federations, and societal stakeholders.

One of the key objectives of the CEN and CENELEC Advisory Board on Healthcare Standards for the coming years is to support actively the transition to the new landscape under the Medical Devices Regulation and In Vitro Medical Devices Regulation and to provide guidance to CEN and CENELEC Technical Committees.
This topic will be a vital part of the discussion planned for the next ABHS meeting, which will take place on 15-16 May 2018 in Lübeck, Germany.

Participants will also, among others, explore the issue of cybersecurity in healthcare; the developments in the field of health and well-being apps; or address the development of EN ISO 15223-1 ‘Symbols to be used with medical device labels, labelling and information to be supplied - Part 1: General requirements’.

Interested stakeholders are invited to become involved with ABHS and register for the upcoming meeting by sending an email to the ABHS Secretary, Nele Zgavc.
