CEN and CENELEC closely cooperate with their international counterparts, respectively the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC). This close cooperation has been materialised by the signature of the Vienna Agreement (ISO-CEN) and the Dresden Agreement (IEC-CENELEC). The main objectives of these agreements is to provide a framework for the optimal use of resources available and expertise for standardisation work, and to provide a mechanism for information exchange between international and European Standards Organisations (ESOs) to increase transparency of work ongoing at international and European levels.
