Smart Grid Standardization Achievements - European Conference

With the support of the European Standards Organisations (ESOs), CEN, CENELEC and ETSI, the European Commission (DG ENERGY) is organising on 28 January 2013 in Brussels, a high-level conference on 'Smart Grid Standardization Achievements'.

The objective of the conference is to disseminate the results of the work carried out by CEN, CENELEC and ETSI in the context of EC mandate M/490 (Smart Grid mandate), but also to present the results obtained by the ESOs under EC mandate M/441 (Smart Metering mandate) and EC mandate M/468 (Charging of electric vehicles mandate). The Commissioner for Energy, Mr Günther Oettinger, will open the conference.

Mr Tore Trondvold, CENELEC President Elect, has been invited to give a keynote speech, addressing the standardization challenges in this innovative sector. The chairpersons of the CEN-CENELEC-ETSI Smart Grid Coordination Group, CEN-CENELEC-ETSI Smart Meters Coordination Group and CEN-CENELEC eMobility Coordination Group will present the accomplishments of their respective groups.

Overall, the European Commission is expecting more than 400 participants from the energy, transport and ICT sectors, as well as European and local policy makers, and NGOs.
